Florian Michaelles
AutoID Labs and ETHZ

Dr. Florian Michahelles is the associate director of the Auto-ID Labs Zurich/St. Gallen and manager of the labs of Prof. Fleisch at the Department of Management, Technology, and Economics at ETH Zürich. His research interests include following topics centred around the Internet of Things: RFID applications, extending the EPC Architecture Framework for sensing capabilities, technical approaches against anti-counterfeiting, and RFID applications for the end-consumer.

Alexander Gellner

Alexander has 15 years of experience in the ICT market. He started his career at Gartner doing strategic consulting work in the ICT industry; this was followed by a total of 7 years at mobile operators Telefonica in Germany and Orange in Switzerland where he had responsibility for Market Intelligence and Consumer Marketing. At Ericsson, Alexander was in charge of Strategic Marketing and Business Development in Switzerland and now heads up the Marketing department in Western and Central Europe.

Charles Upchurch

Charles Upchurch has been the CEO of Silentsoft for 3 years. Previously, he led an IT start up in Geneva to a successful trade sale as CEO. Charles spent 16 years with SGS and held senior positions in Geneva, New York and Singapore. He started his professional career with 9 years in the oil industry and has a degree in Psychology from Rhodes College in USA.

Philipp Bolliger

Philipp founded his first company at the age of 18 and holds a master’s degree in Computer Science from ETH Zürich. He joined the Distributed Systems Group at ETH Zürich in April 2006 and is about to finish his PhD. In 2009, Philipp co-founded Koubachi with Moritz Köhler and has been working as CEO since. Koubachi revolutionizes the way objects and things in the household communicate. The company’s mission is to identify the potential of Smart Objects and create new possibilities for their use. The first product is a smart plant care assistant that gives exact advice when and how to care for houseplants.

Olivier Thyes
Product Manager M2M & Location Based Information, Swisscom

Olivier Thyes is a senior product manager at Swisscom and holds a master’s degree in communication systems from ETH Lausanne. He is responsible for corporate M2M products, including connectivity services and location based services. Olivier has worked at Swisscom for 11 years and has been involved in various strategic topics, including IPTV (Swisscom TV), Mobile TV, automotive solutions and M2M.

His presentation will be: M2M success stories in Switzerland and the future of M2M from an operator perspective.
