Mobile Monday Switzerland has established itself as an industry association.
Some of the founders of Mobile Monday Switzerland met in Zurich, prior ourMarch meeting. At our first General Assembly, we reviewed, discussed and voted on the new organization’s by-laws and establish (vote in) the management committee. The meeting and committee participation is open to all those who are willing to support the organization through volunteer service and a nominal donation.
If you are interested in joining us or wish more information about the oranization/by-laws, please check here.

We are organizing an informal gathering for professional networking purposes on the first evening of the conference. Meet us at “Le Scandale” to network with friends from Mobile Monday Switzerland .
There is no cost to attend this networking function, but we regret that we are not sponsoring drinks. This is a “No host” event designed to give everyone the opportunity to meet and talk.
All successful services and applications are based on positive user experiences. Creating compelling experiences for mobile users involves marrying many elements. Technology must be hidden and the options offered clear, intuitive and simple.
Achieving these objectives requires a deep understanding of the user’s goals, the environment or context in which the service is most likely accessed, user capabilities, handset features, and the resources in the mobile network. In addition we will discuss the impact of new technologies for visual user interfaces, gestures.
Speakers: Check details and our great speakers on the program page.

On February 2, 2009 we had our first “Big Trends in Mobile” session and, by all measures, it was a Big Success.
We had our panel of experts in different domains covering application development, games/entertainment, mobile security and public policy, fusion/merger of voice and Web, mobile social networking and mobile network operator infrastructure. And we also had a very attentive and interactive audience numbering just over 50. Many new faces and some of our loyal attendees and partners, a large group of which came from Zurich.
Perhaps we should consider making the Big Trends in Mobile an annual topic for February?
The venue at the Hotel Alpha-Palmiers was well suited to our networking activities before and after the formal part of this (very informal) meeting of Mobile Monday Switzerland, and it was nice to be so close to the train station.
Presentations by Claude and I are now available together with additional comments on the page for this event.

Special thanks to our Meeting #4 sponsors
On December 1, over 30 people attended our 3rd MobileMonday Switzerland event in Bern on the topic of Mobile Application Environments. Our 5 speakers shared their experiences and recommendations from the perspective of developers of mobile applications and services. The panel discussion which followed raised all kinds of exciting issues, especially the importance of iPhone as a game-changer.
The slides used by speakers are available from our Past Events page.
The event was covered in the following blogs :

Thanks to our speakers, the moderator and all those who contributed to another successful MobileMonday event!
For the Mobile Payments and Banking event (Mobile Monday Switzerland #2, first meeting in Lausanne), the situation was perfect! All the ingredients came together:
1. Attendees: our grass roots marketing was quite effective, reaching people from many fields (academia, businesses of all sizes including financial institutions, a Swiss mobile carrier, and other disciplines) and regions of Switzerland.
We thank everyone who attended (we were nearly 60). Special thanks to those of you who came from Valais, Geneva, Bern and Zurich. We even had one participant who came to us all the way from Paris for our event! Thank you, Philippe!
2. Our local sponsors, Marc Gandar (Alliance) and Mark Miehlbradt (A3), mastered the event logistics with grace. They provided nice sized room (well equipped for presentations as well), name badges, the free drink for those who registered in advance, signs on the EPFL campus so that visitors could easily find their way to BC 410, and even managed the photography for the event (see photos which will appear on the Flicker feed). Thanks to Hewlett Packard for sponsoring the registration desk help and the rooms for our out-of-town speakers.
3. The programme: our speakers were outstanding in the field of mobile payment and banking.
From business case analyses, technical platform topics, business issues in Switzerland and the developing world, and the mobile operator’s perspective, the excellent presentations kept the audience’s attention and we all learned a great deal. Thank you to Claude Florin for coordinating the invitations, and all our speakers for their valuable contributions:
